It seems to retain the foreboding atmosphere System Shock excels at while updating certain aspects like combat and puzzles for a modern audience. GLHF went hands-on with it back at Gamescom 2022 and came away rather impressed. This game inspired BioShock, Alien: Isolation, Prey, and every other Sci-Fi horror immersive sim ever, so it deserves that extra development time. Since then, the project has already been delayed several times – no doubt because Nightdive Studios wants to do the original justice. The System Shock remake began as a Kickstarter project in 2016 and was initially slated for a release sometime in 2017.
